Founded in 1961, the Jamaica Kennel Club (JKC) and its affiliated organizations advocate for the purebred dog as a family companion, advance canine health and well-being, work to protect the rights of all dog owners and promote responsible dog ownership.
The JKC is the primary registry body for purebred dogs in Jamaica and currently recognizes fifty six (56) breeds. As a non-profit organization, the JKC is dedicated to encouraging, guiding, and advancing the interests of purebred dogs and their responsible owners and breeders in Jamaica and promoting the knowledge and understanding of the benefits which dogs can bring to Jamaican society.
The Club registers purebred dogs, regulates dog shows and performance events, and speaks out on major issues concerning dog ownership and the health & welfare of dogs across Jamaica.
It provides registry services for all officially recognized breeds of purebred dogs, provides governance for all JKC approved shows, trial and events. Finally, the CKC is a communication organization informing all people interested in dogs.
Mission
The Jamaica Kennel Club will service its membership and the Jamaican society, by promoting the improvement and well-being of dogs, by emphasizing the importance of purebred dogs; responsible breeding of all dogs; by promoting responsible ownership to all ages and sectors of society by reinforcing the necessity of educating both dog and owner, by giving support, understanding, help and guidance in all their canine-related endeavors.
The Jamaica Kennel Club is dedicated to upholding the integrity of its Registry, promoting the sport of purebred dogs and breeding for type and function.
JKC will work so that members will be proud of their affiliation. The Club will recognize, promote, and publicize the actions of responsible breeders and owners.

To adopt and enforce rules uniform rules regulating and governing dog show in all its aspects, to regulate the conduct of persons interested in exhibiting, judging, breeding, registering, transferring purchasing and selling dogs, to prevent detect and punish frauds in connection therewith, to protect the interest of its members, to do everything to advance the study, breeding, exhibiting and maintenance of the purity of pure dogs.
