About

The JKC advocates for the purebred dog as a family companion, advances canine health and well-being, works to protect the rights of all dog owners, and promotes responsible ownership across Jamaica.

The club recognises fifty-six breeds, maintains the register of every purebred dog properly recorded on the island, licenses the shows at which those dogs are judged, and issues the Registration Cards and Pedigrees that follow a dog for life. It is run by an elected executive board and staffed from a small office at 11a Eastwood Avenue.

To enhance canine welfare through education, to support responsible breeding and ownership, and to maintain the integrity of the register while fostering pride among our members.

Vision

To be Jamaica’s recognised authority on the purebred dog — advancing breeding, exhibiting and education, and promoting sportsmanship and courtesy among everyone who shows.

Values

Integrity, openness, honesty and compassion in how we deal with members and the public — and a standing commitment to work against fraudulent practice in the breeding and showing of dogs. That last one is not decorative. It is most of what the register is for.

What the club is not

The JKC does not breed, sell or place dogs, and does not vouch for any individual breeder beyond confirming that their affix and membership are current. A listing in our breeder directory is a statement of standing, not a recommendation. Ask your own questions.
